Genuine quality grows right on our doorstep.
Locally sourced – a large proportion of the vegetables come from Simon Nothdurfter in Stanz during the summer!
This year, we were able to take a new step towards regionality:
For the first time, we will be supplied exclusively with fresh, organically grown vegetables from Simon Nothdurfter in Stanz.
Simon runs his farm with a great deal of passion and a deep awareness of nature, soil and cycles. His land is home to tomatoes, courgettes, sugar melons, beetroot and much more – all of the highest quality, grown with patience, hard work and a keen sense of what plants really need.
For us, this cooperation means more than just short delivery routes:
it is a piece of sustainability in action, an honest commitment to the region – and a collaboration with a person who lives his calling.
We wanted to get to know Simon a little better.
Who is the person behind the vegetables our guests enjoy?
What drives him to go out to the fields day after day?
A conversation with Simon Nothdurfter – organic farmer from Stanz
Why did you choose this profession, Simon?
Even as a child, I knew I wanted to be a farmer, not a livestock farmer, but someone who grew fruit. Pruning trees, watching nature grow, and all without a boss telling you how, when and where. Trying new things without having to ask anyone. Wonderful, but exhausting at the same time.
What makes you a farmer? Is there something that particularly drives you or is close to your heart?
I'm not a complainer. Trying new things, preserving old traditions and promoting community spirit – that's what suits me.
What does regionality mean to you – personally and as a producer?
Regionality, knowing who is behind the product, is the most important thing for me.
What are your hopes for the future of agriculture in the Tyrolean Oberland?
You can write your own future. Farming should be profitable, not to get rich, but to be able to live on it as a family. To see your children grow up and perhaps bring them closer to nature. To exemplify a positive outlook and contentment. More cohesion and joint marketing, as I am currently planning in Landeck: a farm shop with products from the Oberland. Showing what is available and what is possible.
I cannot change the past, only the future.
A heartfelt thank you
We are grateful for our collaboration with Simon – for his trust, his reliability and his passion. His vegetables are not only a treat for the taste buds, but also a sign of what can be achieved when people with shared values work together.
Genuine quality doesn't grow just anywhere.
It grows here – here in the Stanzertal valley, on Stanzer soil, with heart and dedication.
